SEOPress 5.0 introduces our brand new universal SEO metabox that works with all page builders. Now with version 5.1, we have continue our work by adding Video and News XML sitemaps tabs.
🎉 New – Internal linking suggestions (PRO)
It’s finally here after months of waiting, our internal linking suggestions tool! We will automatically suggest content you should link to from the article being edited.
How are internal links suggested?
Thanks to math! We use something called, tf-idf, ie term frequency–inverse document frequency. It’s a statistical weighting method that allows you to calculate the importance of a keyword within your document compared to all of your other articles. We can then sort, classify the contents against each other and suggest up to 5 internal links per post. From our SEO metabox, Internal linking tab, you can see the suggestions, copy the link in one click, preview it or edit its content. Just like that!
You don’t see any suggestions?
You have to save your post once to run the process. Go to your posts list, select all, bulk actions, edit and click Update button to calculate internal link suggestions for several posts at once.
It’s smart!
Finally, we have added some “intelligence” to our internal linking feature:
- stop words for 38 languages to prevent suggestions based on keywords like “the”, “and”, “or”…
- 200 words minimum per post
- content with “published” status
- post type publicly queryable.
🎉 Other news
Many other new features and improvements have been added like:
- French translation for the Free version has been updated 🇫🇷
- Italian translation both Free and PRO version is coming soon 🇮🇹
- developers can now filter which post types to watch for automatic redirects suggestions
- we have fixed an issue with our broken link checker (make sure to go to SEO, BOT, Settings and select post types to scan, then save changes)
- a compatibility issue with Slider PRO and our universal SEO metabox
- an issue with the FAQ block schema
- universal SEO metabox is now available for the block editor
We have also fixed some CSS issues since version 5.0 included a new user interface.
