Google Search Console #2, Clean uninstallation, Database optimization – SEOPress 6.2

SEOPress 6.2 is now available.Β We encourage you to update your site as soon as possible to take advantage of the latest features and improvements.

πŸŽ‰ New – Google Search Console integration (#2 iteration)

Our first iteration added inspecting a URL to get a full report of your page’s status from Google (indexing, schemas found, issues encountered…).

This second iteration adds 4 metrics for your content: clicks, positions, CTR (click-through rate) and impressions in the list of your post / pages / post types.

Now you will be able to quickly understand which content performs best on your site, and those that need either to be optimized or to be deleted altogether.

Check out our guide to connect your WordPress site with Google Search Console using SEOPress.

This feature requires SEOPress PRO.

πŸŽ‰ New – Clean Uninstallation

Do you want to uninstall SEOPressΒ properly from the WP admin? This is now possible via the use of the following define:

define('SEOPRESS_UNINSTALL', true );

After adding this define to your wp-config.php file, deleting SEOPress from the Plugins list, will remove any SEOPress related entries from your database (+ files on your server as usual).

Check out our guide here.

πŸŽ‰ Other news

We worked hard for this last major update of the year to fix many long-standing bugs, here is a non-exhaustive list:

  • stop saving empty SEO metadata to your database πŸŽ‰
  • stop loading the SEOPress webfont in WP admin
  • stop saving the license key to your database if you add it to your wp-config.php file
  • translations for the universal SEO metabox now available to translate.wordpress.org website (will update our translations soon, contact us if you want to contribute) πŸŽ‰
  • remove the deprecated noodp meta robots and SEOPRESS_WL_ADMIN_HEADER_LOGO define
  • update our Google Preview to match Google search results design
  • update our documentation for Nginx users: if you have issues to generate video, news or author xml sitemaps, please edit your Nginx rewrite rules on your server.
  • and many other things!

It’s already the end of the year 2022, for the occasion we have created an Advent calendar with 24 SEO tips to discover every day on our site, do not hesitate to consult them.
